Nick Jurkowitz was quoted extensively in Ed Rabinowitz’s Dentist’s Money Digest article “Proactive Measures Can Lessen— But Not Erase— Risk of Lawsuits.” The piece discusses factors that can contribute to increased litigation against dentists, including new products and negligence, poor bedside manner, and the lack of a point person in regards to risk management. According to Nick, while it’s impossible to negate the risk of litigation completely, there are a number of ways for dentists and other healthcare professionals to minimize their chances of facing a lawsuit.
“When it comes to techniques, make sure that you’re comfortable with what you’re doing in your office,” says Nick. “Make sure that your employees, technicians and assistants, are receiving the proper supervision.”
